We were contacted by a client in Japan who was looking to commission a unique engagement ring. Obviously being based abroad and with the huge time difference, communication proved easier via email. The brief was simple: Design a unique ring with a double halo, featuring a green tsavourite garnet as the main centre stone.
Natural green garnets (tsavorite) are beautiful gems, and are a great alternative to Emerald. At Daniel Prince, everything is handmade to order, so after we had established the approximate budget for the ring and our client had formally retained our services, we set about finding the perfect gemstone and handpicked a selection of suitable Tsavorites that we considered the best for the design and the budget.
Delighted with the choice, our client opted for a stunning 2.45 carat stone shown above on the far right. Our artist then prepared some initial handdrawn sketches.
After agreeing the design and paying the 50% confirmation deposit, we proceeded with the construction of this unique ring (which was to be entirely handmade in 18kt Gold). Our client opted to have the ring unplated because he preferred the very subtle yellow/white of white gold.
Approximately four weeks later the ring was finished and delivered to Toyko, much to the obvious delight of our very happy client.
“Hi Daniel, I’ve just received the ring… it’s amazing – it far exceeds my expectations. I’m completely blown away. Thank you for all your effort and liaising this across continents.”
The exquisite attention to detail of the setting can only be achieved using traditional techniques.
